India’s Top Monsoon Scenic Train Journeys

3. Nilgiri Mountain Railway Mettupalayam and Ooty

This ride becomes dreamy during rains, and you can see murk following the rails and rain kissed tea auditoriums on the sides.

This journey at the New Jalpaiguri to Darjeeling is a dramatic journey with changes in elevation and includes the views of pine timbers, social bungalows, and mist-covered in the distant Kanchenjunga hills.

Landslides are a possibility during rainy seasons especially when there is abundance of rainfall but the beauty of this road is incomparable.

5. Mandovi Express Mumbai Madgaon

The Mandovi Express is another breathtaking ride along the Konkan sea coast between Mumbai and Goa and passengers going along the route at this time are in a position to enjoy the splendid sceneries with minimum effort.

The train has been named after the Mandovi River in Goa which moves through a landscape that is dotted with waterfalls, vine-groves and gnarled scars.

The train has glass windows that resemble moving picture frames and the rain gives a dramatic effect on each of these frames.

6. Kalka -Shimla Railway Kalka to shimla

It is one of the most famous hill train journeys in India because of this narrow-gauge line passing through Himachal Pradesh.

In the rainy season, Kalka Shimla Railway becomes an enchanted green land when its 100 coverts, picturesque stations and arched bridges appear.

The rains also come in with misty mountains, ex-water falls, and other flowering on the pitches.

The rhythmic bang of the train along with the chilly raindrops air is what makes this journey a spiritual cushion up to the Himalayan heart.

7. Jammu Baramulla Line Jammu to Srinagar

A very modern day engineering marvel, Jammu- Baramulla road line links Jammu and the Kashmir Valley.

The rain too is so light with gentle showers which add more beauty to the hollow without pouring down.

Snow fed gutters, pine timbers, apple stations and the powerful Pir Panjal mountains all appear during this travelling panorama.

Coming along this path during the rainfall will bring peace and visual grandeur providing the rubberneckers with a calm and rain-wiped look at the image of Heaven on the Earth. ”
